Nobles have 5 important traits:
Curiosity: Questioning everything you learned helps you explore further.
Respect: Always be respectful to your teachers, your peers, and yourself
Playfulness: (I really agree with this one) As a school, it is a place where you get educated but also have fun!
Generosity: Showing up for each other’s games, supporting each other when they are down are all signs of curiosity.
Belonging: (The student (Ms. Erin Campbell) who led our tour considered this very important) The community is very important. Feeling like you are included in the school and you are valued and you can flourish with your peers together is a great feeling. It gives you confidence.
I also really enjoy Noble’s EXCEL program in which students can go on a trip to different places in the world during either Spring Break or Summer Break. My student leader (Erin) said she applied for a Spring Break trip to Europe and a Summer Break trip to Vietnam. There are about 15 people per trip and some trips are dedicated to all students, middle school students, sophomore and freshman, or juniors and seniors. I really like this program because I think everyone will get the chance to go on a trip if you keep applying and you can have grade bondings with different aged people. It’s also a good approach of experiencing a new culture and get educated in a different way.
Something I dislike about the Nobles society is how it is so similar to the Dana Hall society. Both has brick walls for the buildings, both have the flag colors of blue and white, both are surrounding a part of grass (Nobles called the beach and Dana Hall’s called the Common Ground). The only difference between them is that Nobles have fifty percent girls and fifty percent boys while Dana Hall is an all girl school.
I don’t want to leave Dana Hall, so when I visit Open Houses, I go on a critical side of view, in search of the school’s worst traits. But in Nobles, I found none since it is so similar to Dana Hall. I must say I really like the school in heart but I just don’t want to admit it outside. I fear that if I apply to Nobles and get in, it will give me every kind of homesickness for Dana Hall.
