Time Travel

I am at my broken state right now. Here are my emotion wave lines:

When I heard that we can time travel in the future, I became super excited because does that mean I will be able to cheat death? Also, I would be able to know what happened to me in my past when I go in the future. How would people explain my disappearance?

Here is how logic makes it possible. It is proven in physics that if there is more gravity at one place, then time goes slower. So that means, if I take a spaceship and fly into outer space beside a humongous star or even the black hole without getting burned or sucked in, stay there for 10 minutes, fly back to Earth, and it will be 100 years that have passed. Sounds easy right?

No. You first have to use 100 billion dollars to get a spaceship that can withstand so much heat and you have to spend years flying to the star, and back from the star. By that time, you’re probably too old to even explore the new world!

Another unbelievable event is that once you time travel to the future, you cannot time travel back to your right era to tell the world about what will happen in the future. Many people will ask, isn’t it just like walking forwards and backwards? Why can’t the clock go backwards?

That is because, then again, time going backwards just doesn’t make sense. A crucial note to keep in mind is that everything in the universe have a logic behinds it. And just as in people 1000 years ago cannot imagine that we have planes and technology device, those objects are built from scraps of things from the past and all have logic equations in them. Time travelling to the past defies gravity and the essential definition of the universe.

Take grammar in English for example: Let’s say you are right now in the 2020s and you time travelled back to the 1840s. Of course you would call 2020s the present and 1840s the past. However, this is getting tricky, but stay with me, if you time travelled back to the 1840s, that becomes your new present because you are currently in it, but also counts as your past, since you were never born somewhere near that decade. Then, when looking back at the 2020s, would you call it the past since you technically came from there, or the future, if you decide to live the 1840s life?

This is all so confusing, and so time travelling to the back might never be possible even in the future where we can fly to Mars and have robots. Who knows?

This is the reason why I’m devastated now, because I have always wanted to travel to WW2 and save lives by telling the rulers to not fight, showing them the results. I also want to see what the 1940s people look like and what food they eat, and even though there are pictures, it feels awfully unreal compared if you can actually see it. I have dreams about travelling back in time a lot and it is such a heartbreak scene when I heard that we may never be able to time travel backwards in time. In order to make me joyous again, I decide to give myself a prompt. Dear readers, you can also write down your answers to the prompt in the comment box.

Prompt: If you were to travel back to any decade/century (name one yourself), any location (name one yourself), what are the three essential things you are going to bring? [Hint: If you are going to a time period before 1870s, I suggest not to bring a phone because even the oldest telephones were not invented and wifi was invented in the 2000s.

Anyways, my response for this topic are:

  1. A ton of medicine (antibiotics, pain relievers… , I have a bad immune system)
  2. A history book (so if there was any corruptions, like the WW2, I would just tell them not to fight because this side lost)
  3. An invention book (so I can help the world invent iPhones and technology and trains!)

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time. Remember to comment down below and tell me your responses to the questions!
